How old do you have to be to take a Spin or TRX class?
Spinning bikes are made for individuals that are at least 14 years old and 4’11. As long as they have parental permission/supervision and meet the height requirements, they are allowed to attend a Spin or TRX class.
How many calories will I burn in a Spin or TRX class?
Depending on the intensity of the class and the weight of the person, on average participants typically burn between 500-600 calories in a 50 minute spin class (including the warm-up/cool down). On average, one can burn anywhere between 360 to 530 calories in a TRX class.
What is TRX?
TRX, also known as Total Resistance Exercise, is a form of suspension training that uses body weight exercises to develop strength, balance, flexibility, and core stability all in one workout. TRX Suspension Training makes gravity your resistance, allowing you to control the level of difficulty. Even while working arms or legs, Suspension Training® constantly challenges your core for a true total-body workout.
Sometimes my feet/toes go numb when I am riding. How can I solve this problem?
The best way to solve this is to make sure your laces or cages are not too tight. If you have checked that and do not notice a difference we would recommend investing in hard or stiff soled cycling shoes that will not bend when you are in the standing position.
How can I get more comfortable on the saddle?
If you are new to Spinning or have taken a break, it is going to take a few sessions for your body to adjust and get used to the saddle. It may help to buy padded cycling shorts.
Why is it a good idea for runners to incorporate Spinning as cross training?
Spinning is a low impact workout, giving your joints a break from wear and tear. It also works different muscles than running, which builds up and strengthens weaker muscles providing greater muscular balance. This reduces chances of injury.
What type of gear do I need to have for a Spin class?
See our “New to Spinning?” page for this information.
How is Spin class different than riding a stationary bike?
Spinning classes are unique and a great option to destress because they offer upbeat music, highly energized and motivating instructors, and enthusiastic riders that boost your energy with a positive group atmosphere that is more likely to hold you accountable and push you (than if you were working out alone). With an instructor, you are taken through an intense workout full of climbs, sprints, jumps, and open flat roads.
What is the distance traveled during each Spin class?
Clients travel approximately 15-20 miles per class, depending on the type of ride, intensity and cadence.
Do I have to be in great shape or an athlete to take a Spin or TRX class?
No, there is absolutely no coordination required. We offer a variety of classes at Beverly Ride On from beginners to competitive athletes. We are sure to have a class for everyone. If you do not see a class or time offered that would be suitable for you, we are always listening and looking for feedback.
